“I always think of cinema as an art of time (…) So, the films that disturb me are the films that offer the spectator a space for creation, in which everybody can feel the images and the length of shots (…) Permanências is a film that emphasizes minimalist gestures, looks, breath. I believe in a mapping of the face”. In a few lines, Ricardo Alvez Júnior defines his film without altering its incredible mystery. Shot in apartment blocks in the center of Belo Horizonte (Brazil) this film redefines with an amazing density the idea of “moment” in the cinema, through a series of portraits of the occupants.
